How to divert your business number to Arcera, and undo it
A plain-language guide to Australian mobile call forwarding, standard GSM codes, checking your provider's instructions and removing a divert during onboarding.
What call forwarding means
Call forwarding, also called a divert, tells your phone service to send certain incoming calls to another number. Arcera uses a divert to add answering coverage around your team rather than asking customers to learn a different business number.
For the existing-number explanation, see the reception FAQs. The forwarding and porting boundaries are set out on Trust and limits.
Set up a divert on an Australian mobile
- Confirm the right forwarding method and any call charges with your phone provider. Choose unanswered, busy or unreachable coverage, or all calls, according to your agreed workflow.
- Use the Arcera answering number given to you during onboarding. In the codes below, replace NUMBER with that number in the 04/02-style national or +61 international format as instructed.
- For services that support these standard GSM codes, enter the chosen code in your phone's dialler and press call. Wait for your provider's confirmation.
- Test from another phone with Arcera during onboarding. Confirm the greeting, handover and the coverage condition you selected before relying on it.
Codes can vary by carrier, plan, landline, VoIP, PBX or business phone system. Confirm the method with your provider rather than assuming these mobile codes apply. Arcera walks you through setup during onboarding.
| Action | Code to dial |
|---|---|
| Forward when unanswered | **61*NUMBER# |
| Forward when busy | **67*NUMBER# |
| Forward when unreachable | **62*NUMBER# |
| Forward all calls | **21*NUMBER# |
| Cancel all conditional forwarding | ##004# |
| Cancel all forwarding | ##002# |
| Check all-call forwarding status | *#21# |
The status code above checks all-call forwarding. Conditional forwarding status may need a different check from your provider. Cancelling forwarding can also remove a provider's voicemail divert, so confirm what will happen to your existing settings.
How to undivert
##002#
On a mobile service that supports this standard code, dial ##002# and press call to cancel all forwarding. Wait for confirmation and test an incoming call. Confirm with your provider if the code is unsupported or if your service uses different settings.
To cancel only conditional forwarding on supported services, use ##004#. Ask your provider about restoring any voicemail settings that were removed.
